Cornwall

Oh my. What a week.
It won't be forgotten anytime soon for several reasons!

Firstly. I want to point out that it's 10am and we got home at 4am. Not entirely sure why I'm awake and writing, but hey ho.

So Cornwall.
We managed to pack so much into such a short space of time.

Sunday - Day 1 - We chilled.
First our tent had to be put up, once that was done it was into the onsite pool for the rest of us. Kids played, adults sat and some swam.

Monday - Day 2 - Fistral Beach.
It was time to visit a beach! Fistral Beach in fact.
Took us a little while to get there - our car did anyway. But once we got there, it was sea, sand and pasties for the rest of the day.
Kris and I spent some time together. Had a little photo shoot of our own and took a wander across the beach to find some funny sites and some not so funny jellyfish laying about.

Tuesday - Day 3 - Treausure, Paint and an afternoon swim.
We visited Treasure Park. A little park with sand pits filled with treasure. A little hut for painting ornaments. A lovely little restaurant.
The kids all sieved away at the treasure and even Kris and I joined in with the painting.
Once we'd all returned, it was time for a swim again!

The lads went out for a drink down at the local in the evening which left us girlies to play Cluedo all night!

Wednesday - Day 4 - Breakfast, Kiddies and attempted surfing.
We joined Di and Steve, Jenni and Maddie for a breakfast along Portreath Beach.
Once we'd eaten our feast, we made our way back to the campsite to spend some time with our nieces and nephew.
The others took a trip to Fraddon while we showed the golf course how golfing was really done.

Once everyone was back at the caravan, it was time to get ready for the beach.
Jen, Maddie and myself all attempted to get in the water and go for a body board session.
Let's go anyway!

Once we were in the sea, passed (what we thought) were all the stones/rocks - we attempted to get into some waves.
It wasn't happening.
The current was so strong that we were getting thrown about with some heavy arse rocks! Maddie went to sit down - away from the tide - whilst Jen and I attempted to continue.
There was no way we were getting further into the sea. The warning sign was correct after all!
We all got out, took a walk to the restaurant where everyone was - only to find that we had all cut ourselves at some point during the experience.
It was painful - but so much fun.

Thursday - Day 5 - DATE DAY down in Newquay.
Before we came on holiday - Kris and I booked to have a tattoo done whilst we were away. So we figured why not make a day of it!
We were dropped off into Newquay, went for a walk and found the Fat Willys shop.

We then decided maybe its worth finding the tattoo shop before we go mooching around Newquay high street. Low and behold - it was the easiest place to find and we were an hour early.
Coffee and a walk it was! We walked to the edge of the town and looked over the beach at a fantastic view. Found a little Australian bar that we figured we'd end up at after the tattoos.

All the walking and talking had passed enough time that we entered the tattoo parlour - scary!! - and waited for our turn.

I have never come across such lovely people in a tattoo parlour. Just putting that out there!
I went first. And it was fine! Didn't hurt as much as I thought it would and the guy was as gentle as he could be giving that he's sticking a needle in my leg!
Kris then had his done. Took no time at all and yet they look amazing!

So on we went to get some food! And made our way back to the caravan to show everyone our new ink.

Friday - Day 6 - Cider, Dairy, Fraddon and an afternoon ale.
We all made our way up to Healeys cider farm to look at, cider. Funnily enough.

We then drove down the road to Callestick Dairy Farm.
The most fun was had in the car park I think.
Kris and I, along with Jenni and Maddie took a drive to Fraddon (Kingsley Village) to have a good ol' mooch about. I thought I'd gone to heaven for a little while!
They had some gorgeous homey bits and bobs along with the boards and phrases that I almost melt at.
Through to the village hall was so much food that would have been very welcome in our cupboards at home.

Shortly after we'd arrived back at the caravan, Kris and I took a little drive to a local pub.
Sadly we'd missed a funeral back at home during the week so we thought we'd visit a pub and raise a glass of ale. What we didn't know originally, is that Cornwalls premium ale is called Tribute. Quite fitting really.

Saturday - Day 7 - McDonalds, Porthtowan, Cranium and a slow drive home.
We started our day off by heading to Maccies for a brekkie before we packed down the tent.
Once that was all achieved, Jen, Maddie and myself took a drive to Porthtowan beach.

We got back, read our books, laid on the grass. Generally relaxed ourselves.
Kris made some dinner and once the kids were in bed it was time for our last board game of the week.

Half way through our second round - Jorja came through to tell us all that her tooth was so nearly out.
James and Lindsey tried coaxing it out with strawberries and a few wiggles. Nothing.
Jorja went to bed and about 15 minutes later appeared with a big holey grin and a tooth in her hand. A smiley end to the week for sure..

Cornwall 2013. Done.
