First Wedding Anniversary

I can say for certain, it's one we won't be forgetting in a hurry.
I can't believe how quickly it's come round either. One minute we're sailing through the summer and the next minute we're already in November celebrating a whole year of being married. Crazy!

We wanted to do something special for this one. Not just because it was the first one of many to come, but because it's been the toughest, most challenging and incredibly rewarding year of our lives.
I can't even put into words how excited we are that we're into our second year of marriage.

Saturday 2nd November -
Wedding Anniversary Eve

We decided to spend the day in London. Do a few touristy things and spend the day together in a place we rarely get to appreciate.
We managed to book in advance for the London Eye, Madam Tussaud's, London Dungeons and the London Aquarium.
I know right! All of that in one day?! Well I can safely say, we didn't manage it.
Through a joint and tough (ha) decision, we came to the conclusion that we could miss the London Dungeons. Too bad!

You must be thinking oh what a lovely day, I bet it started with excitement and smiles.
Quite the opposite!
We'd planned to get the 8.03 train from Ashford. By the time we'd woken up, we realised that wasn't going to happen - which was fine. Why rush?
So we chilled, got ready. And SMASH.
In one swift move, little did I know, I'd just broken my toe.
The day of our celebratory anniversary.
Of all the days in the half term, I pick this one.
Tears passed, time passed, the pain did not. But on we went! London was calling us and for all I knew, I'd stubbed my baby toe. Poor thing! The pain will pass right? SURE!

So to London we went.
And with no surprise, it was the best day!
Madame Tussaud's was brilliant. Got some great poses with the celebs. Saw the new 4D Marvel Heroes (show thing).

After that experience, to Lunch we went! (Most important decision of the day - WHERE TO EAT?)
Saturdays are basically Fridays. Therefore TGIF was the perfect choice!
Burgers smothered in Jack Daniels sauce, with extra sauce on the side, next to a heap of delicious chips. I've never been more satisfied with a burger and sauce in all my life.
That meal went down an absolute treat, so there was only one thing to do next...
Pee and visit an aquarium!

We saw turtles - not just turtles - GIANT turtles. We saw sharks, jellyfish, the cutest little seahorses! We saw piranhas, penguins.
Best part - stingrays scaring the hell out of me (I may have jumped as they splashed)
Worst part - the same child treading on my (SORE!!!!!) toe about a million times.
Cheers, great, thanks mate! (FOOL)

We came out of the aquarium into the dark city of London. The lights were gorgeous. The way Big Ben was lit up across the Thames.
This could only mean one thing for us ...
TO BOARD THE LONDON EYE!
Within minutes we were in our pod with about 10 other people.
The further we went up, the more fascinating and magnificent London looked. St.Pauls lit up in the distance. Buckingham Palace. Tower Bridge. Phenomenal sites!

By now, my toe is aching, my feet are hurting and I'm hearing the train call my name. It was certainly time to go home.

We arrived home a couple of hours later to discover my baby toe had gone a very distinguished purple. It hit me. I've been walking around London all day on a potentially broken toe. My first thought...
"I'M SO PROUD OF MYSELF!"
Geeky I know.

Sunday 3rd November
Wedding Anniversary

3.5 hours we were in A and E for.
11.50 - 14.30
In that space of time I had about 3 minutes interaction time over all.
Waiting...
A minute with the nurse.
Waiting...
A minute with the nurse
X ray
Waiting...
A minute with the nurse

The outcome of this - "your toe looks broken and deformed to us but we see nothing on the x ray. Keep it elevated and don't walk too much. We can't do anything for it anyway"
Thank you ladies. You deserve the thousands you get paid, you really do!

What a way to spend our wedding anniversary!! In a hospital.
I've already promised kris I'll arrange for us to come back next year. Maybe make it a tradition of some sort! (HA)

Thankfully for us, Kris' dad had said he'd like to take us out for an anniversary meal.
3 hours in hospital, a meal is definitely what I needed!

So that was how we spent our wedding anniversary. Hobbling, limping, laughing, smiling, eating.
One we won't be forgetting anytime soon.
